Memories intrigue me.
What is it that makes a moment in time, a facet of existence important enough that our minds store it away for all eternity? Of all those glimpses of the past, what is it that makes some return to our thoughts at the most odd times?
Such moments must bear some importance that we may or may not be able to identify. Each facet impacts us to such an extreme that we never forget it, even if we never fully understand.
It is my theory that in each person we meet, whether it's 5 seconds of connection in the grocery store or a lifetime of knowing our parents, each person bears a role in molding us. We take some thing from that meeting that we carry with us. It shapes our personality in some way, whether it molds our belief system, impacts our opinions, or gives us a memory that our pysche deems important.
So in effect, each of those people, each of those experiences takes a part in making us US.
This journal is a collection of stories of all the people in my life. Some of them are long and involved. Some of them are brief and you may ask, what is important here? Truth is, I don't know what is important in all of them; I only know that they exist and my mind has found some purpose in remembering them. Some may be light, some may be dark, but in the end, all of them are me.
My hope is that by reading them, in the end you can look back and have a greater understanding of me, without me actually talking about ME.
Enjoy.
